This stunning antique Venetian secretary belonged to oil-heiress and socialite Carolyn Mary Skelly (1905-1996), whose world-renowned collection filled the Newport, RI mansion, Bois Doré.
The secretary is covered in intricately etched mirrored glass panels and features a fold-down writing desk, storage compartments on top and bottom, and wonderfully shaped crown. The scalloped apron has an old break that has been glued, and there is a replacement panel on the right side (see fourth photo). Sold in as-is condition. An RT Facts Find.
