Detailed information on Papua New Guinea

Coffee cultivation began in this Pacific Island nation in 1937 using imported seeds from Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain Region. This delightful coffee, grown in the Eastern Highland Province, has noticeable similarities to the Blue Mountain coffees. Production is largely by small farmers with land holdings that grow as little as 20-100 trees per plot in “coffee gardens” alongside subsistence crops. Predominantly in isolated places, the product is mostly certified as organic coffee. The rich volcanic soil and excellent climatic conditions make this a perfect coffee at almost any roast. PNG has the delicate notes, complexity, and sometimes the acidity or brightness of the best Central Americans. The quality of coffee grown in PNG is exceedingly high.

We have heard so many different cupping notes, such as: Champagne grape, vanilla crème, earthy & spicy; crisp citrus acidity, rich chocolate & tropical fruit.

Mild and Mellow, and full bodied with moderate acidity.

Altitude grown: 1300-1900 meters above sea level.

Fante’s Full City Med/Dark roasted; hints of baker ’s chocolate.
